About Studio E

Studio E got its start way back in 1975. That was the year my mother taught me to knit, and the year my parents gave me my first tiny bead loom. You can blame the rest on them.

The rest–well that involves years of creative endeavor. There was that entire civilization of creatures made from painstakingly hollowed and hinged walnut shells. There was the obsession with tiny seed beads made into…earrings, necklaces, purses… Ok–confession? Still a bit bead obsessed. There was relearning knitting to keep myself sane while in the Peace Corps in West Africa. There is silversmithing, weaving, quilting, clothing design, tote bags and purses, handspinning and knitwear… Confession number two? I am a handcrafts addict. I believe completely in the value of creating beautiful and useful things with one’s own hands,  and in the value of collecting the creations of the hands of others. You are collecting not only objects, but stories, time, patience, frustration, pride, peace…pieces of lives. Tiny pieces of the lives of other human beings to cherish, admire, and use. Use them well.
